Ptbo Bike Orgs

A range of groups support cycling in Peterborough, focusing on mountain biking, active transportation, road riding, bike repair, environmental awareness and our very own community bicycle advisory committee.

Peterborough Bicycle Advisory Committee (P-BAC)
Formed in summer 2010 by a diverse and representative group of community members, P-BAC works to foster a culture of cycling in Peterborough. Check out their website and their Facebook page.

B!KE: The Peterborough Community Cycling Hub
Delivering on its vision of “People empowered to travel by bike”, not-for-profit group, B!KE (293 George Street – 705-775-7227) provides accessible shop space, tools and guidance to help develop bicycle mechanical skills. Usually has used and reconditioned bikes for sale, too. Update February 2020: B!ke is now a dealer of Kona bikes. Check out their website and their Facebook page.
Peterborough Cycling Club
The Peterborough Cycling Club is a locally-based volunteer run non-profit organisation affiliated with the Ontario Cycling Association. The club offers rides to its members on most days of the week. The rides cover a wide range of fitness and abilities with great opportunities for skill enhancement as well.

Peterborough Moves
A joint project between Peterborough GreenUp, the City of Peterborough and the Peterborough County-City Health Unit, Peterborough Moves provides people in the Peterborough area with information and tools to take up sustainable transportation. Peterborough Moves supports cycling in Peterborough through its sponsorship of several programs: the Shifting Gears Challenges, Active & Safe Routes to School and a series of printed and online maps supporting active transportation including a printed City and County Bike Route map.

GreenUP
GreenUp supports cycling in Peterborough as a key component in meeting its broader mandate of environmental education, sustainability, and stewardship. Besides partnering with B!ke to organize cycling safety and skills courses to local students, they provide critical logistical support to P-BAC, especially with the Annual Cycling Summit. They also provide support to Peterborough Moves (above), especially with the Shifting Gears Challenges.

The Mountain Bike Riders of Harold Town Conservation Area
