Enjoying Bikefest 2012

Peterborough bike community gets it together

While it wasn’t as warm and sunny as Tuesday, the rain held off and plenty of people came down to Millennium Park next to the Silver Bean Café to find out more about Peterborough’s bike community, connect with people, enjoy some yummy treats or get a quick fix for their bike.

Those attending could find out lots about the Peterborough cycling community at information booths hosted by the Peterborough Cycling Club, P-BAC, the Peterborough Bicycle Advisory Committee, and Peterborough Moves as well as Sustainable Peterborough.

The bike tune up tents provided by Wild Rock Outfitters and Peterborough Community Bike Shop were both very popular and were busy tweaking brakes, aligning shifters and lots of other quick fixes.

Bikefest was a family event for many

Green Street e-bikes also had a selection of e-bikes on display. Their booth also featured a sample of their very funky Nutcase helmet collection.

While attendance dropped a little around 3:30, the rest of the afternoon was busy with folks talking bikes, making new friends, getting some useful bike swag and just having a fun afternoon.
